LUINO - ENCHANTING CITY ON THE SUNNY BANK
With about 15.000 Inhabitants Luino is the biggest City on the east bank of Lake Maggiore. As from the 19th century, the city situated at the estuary of the river Tresa has developed into a residential and tourism centre. Luino is famous for its weekly market on Wednesday, where you can find everything from clothing, special leather goods and shoes to household items and Italian specialities.
Luino and the surrounding region offer an wide range of sport activities, like golf, tennis and a manifold variety of water sports. Due to the proximity to Switzerland you can quickly reach popular cities like Locarno, Ascona or Lugano, which offer exciting Jazz festivals in summer and a paradise for ski and snowboard fans during the winter. Thanks to good transport connections the famous fashion metropolis Milan is not far as well. See the popular Scala, the impressive Cathedral, countless museums and worthy shopping centres. Luino provides a daily ferry service to reach every small and large city around the Lake Maggiore. The Veddasca Valley with its gorgeous trails is just a few miles away.
